Mermaids will swim at WA Day Festival in Fremantle
Get ready to dive into a world of magic and marine wonder as MerPeople brings ocean enchantment to the WA Day Festival in Fremantle on Monday, June 2, 2025. For the first time ever, Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour will transform into a shimmering celebration of Western Australia’s identity—featuring not only dragon dancers and unicorn stilt walkers, but most importantly: live mermaids!
As the official celebration hub for WA Day 2025, Fremantle will be buzzing with festivities, and our professional mermaid performers will be right at the heart of it all.
Meet Mermaid Sammy at Mews Park
Festivalgoers will have the chance to meet and take photos with Mermaid Sammy, one of MerPeople’s sparkling stars. She’ll be greeting guests and sharing mermaid magic during two dedicated Meet & Greet sessions at Mews Park:
- 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Live Mermaid Swimming Show – 12-Metre Aquarium at Bathers Beach
From 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the 12-metre Mermaid Aquarium Tank beside Bathers Beach House will come alive with shimmering tails and graceful underwater movement. Audiences can witness a truly magical performance as Mermaid Kat, along with Mermaid Jenia, Mermaid Kinia, Mermaid Awn, Mermaid Hannah, Mermaid Yau and Mermaid Bethany, glide through the crystal-clear water in a breathtaking mermaid swimming show. With every twirl and ripple, these talented performers bring to life the beauty and serenity of the ocean, inviting onlookers into a dreamlike world beneath the surface. The show promises to enchant visitors of all ages with its mix of elegance, mystery, and marine magic.
